This week, my husband and I celebrated an anniversary. Seven years since our first date and four years since our engagement. It was a glorious spring day – sunny and warm – just like the day seven years ago when he took me walking in the Chilterns before nervously holding my hand in a local pub… So, today seemed like a good day to introduce you to the tiny version of Mr and Mrs Freeman. They started life as our Wedding cake ‘toppers’ and since then have lived a varied life around and about the house, animating the ups and downs of Mr and Mrs Freeman senior….
The first few months of this year were all about illness. Smiling Flower was ill throughout January. Mr Freeman was ill for the month of February. March was ok but April has been all about Mrs F having a virus and a burned hand. Here Mr F is being carefully watched over by Nurse Freeman. He got lots of sympathy once she realised that he was actually, properly, ill with a raging tonsillitis.
So it hasn’t been so easy to find time to blog. We have our BSL exams looming and have been assured by our tutor that no-one is going to ‘wing it’. Motherhood also continues to feel like full time with overtime thrown in! Recently it was Mother’s day. My second as a Mum. We had a lovely day going for a walk by a local lake, treating ourselves to coffee and then in the evening, once smiling flower was in bed, Mr F brought out the Champagne…
The good news is that Mr and Mrs F are living less like flatmates and more like a married couple again…We tackled the frequent wakes with 3 nights of controlled crying. It was traumatic in the extreme but achieved dramatic results ( she slept through the night by night 3!) Unfortunately she then became ill so we went backwards but overall, the trend is forwards and we are down to one wake a night. Yay!
I think Ecclesiastes had it right: there is a time for everything. Right now, it feels like a time for blitzing some BSL and catching up on some sleep, so sorry if there isn’t much blogging for a while…. I’ll be back!
